2013 Scholarship and Special Award winners

Danielle Sisso – Medea Creek Middle School - Her project studied three different materials for slope stabilization, plants, rocks and mulch.  She built an apparatus to study the runoff from soil covered by each of her materials and reported on her observations.  1st Place $150 Award
 
  
Douglas Shao – Colina Middle School -  He used USGS data on water and sediment transport for Calleguas Creek and created statistical models of the data.  He then compared the results with various climatic and environmental parameters.  2nd Place $100 Award
 
 
Harriet Ferrer and Brighette Ramirez – Hueneme High School - They used fertilizer pellets to see if they could speed up bioremediation of oils and/or gasoline.  Their results showed that the addition of fertilizer pellets did indeed speed up the bioremediation.  3rd Place Award $50 each
